How to Bleed Excavator Hydraulic Pump

I believe that many friends need to use excavators in industrial production, and the hydraulic system in the excavator is also an incomparable part, in the hydraulic system in the installation process will generally have air in, if not timely exhaust, will lead to the actuator crawling, cavitation oxidation deterioration and other hazards or mechanical action slow, or even no action. Usually the hydraulic system exhaust is carried out after starting, but if the hydraulic pump is installed, the air must be drained before starting, otherwise the hydraulic pump will produce cavitation, making a harsh sound, which will seriously damage the hydraulic pump, especially the gear pump, the gear pump needs special attention. Here's how Elephant Fluid Power shows you how to remove air from the excavator's hydraulic pump:

1. Loosen the vent plug

   Check if any oil is leaking from the vent plug. If no oil leaks from the plug, remove the drain hose 2 from the main pump and add hydraulic oil from the drain hole 2 until the pump casing is full. When you disassemble the drain pipe, oil will flow out of it, so make sure that the oil pipe port is positioned higher than the oil level in the hydraulic tank. After completing the exhaust operation, tighten the exhaust plug 1 and install the drain pipe.

   Note: If you install the oil drain pipe first, oil will be sprayed out from the hole in the plug 1. Operating the pump without filling the casing with hydraulic oil will generate abnormal heat that may cause premature pump damage.

   The engine runs at low idle speed, telescopic each cylinder 4~5 times, do not operate to the end of its stroke (stop about 100mm before the end of the stroke). Then, operate each cylinder to the end of the stroke 3~4 times. Finally, operate each cylinder to the end of the stroke 4~5 times for safe exhaust.

Note: If the engine is running at high speed from the beginning, or the cylinder is operated to the end of the stroke, the air inside the cylinder will cause damage to the piston rod seal or other parts.
